About our history and our people.
The church at Taree was established in 1863, 144 years ago.
Thomas and Jane Andrews and Henry Western met in the Andrews' home to observe the Supper.
The Andrews conducted a general store on a site adjacent to the old A.M.P. Society building in Victoria Street,
(today it is "Stacks the Law Firm").
On December 25th, 1864, John Newby, Senior, was added to their number by faith and baptism.
In October of the following year George Saxby was received into fellowship from the church at Newtown, Sydney.
In November of the same year, George Day was sent by the church at Newtown to the Manning to labour with the church as an evangalist, during this time 14 souls were added to the church.
The early pioneers not only prized spiritual values, but were full of energy, enthusiasm and inititive.
